Day 22 Blog Flash 2012 – Holiday

#BlogFlash2012: Day Twenty Two – On Holiday

A sample of an old WIP I’m getting ready to pull from my graveyard.

“Aunt Jo, Grandma told us you’ve never baked cookies before and that they might not taste good,” Scott told me as he poured in the flour.

“No I haven’t until now, but we’ve got my Grandmas recipe and with all of your help I’m sure they will taste great,” I assured him.

“I’m making a snowman,” Savanah said as she went through the cutters.  Once they were cut out and on the baking sheets it was time to decorate.  It was so fun watching them decorate the cookies.  I was glad to see they enjoyed it as much as I had so many years ago.

“Can we make them next year?”  Scott asked as he reached for another cookie.

“Absolutely,” I told them.  It had been an evening of reliving old memories and beginning new ones, smiles and laughter filled the kitchen.

On Sunday the kids gave Mom a box of cookies we had made.  I saw a tear in her eye as she opened the box and took out a bell cookie.

About Joy Keeney

I love the feeling I get when I put my pencil to the paper to write. I love the sound of the lead as it glides from the tip of the pencil onto the paper below. I'm scared to death of failure....also have a fear of actually succeeding. What a combo....I'm working on them both. I will only fail if I STOP writing! It's okay for me to write something that others will like. I've started to enjoy waiting for the reaction of the person reading my work. If they get goose bumps or reach for a tissue I know I'm on the right track!
